Hello! My name is Katrina (but everyone has always called me Katie!) I am beyond excited to be coming on board as the Head Teacher and licensed provider at Good Heritage Childcare & Preschool. Along with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a passion for helping children thrive, I am bringing 15 years of diverse childcare and teaching experience to the table:
I have spent the last four years as a private English Language and Accent tutor, working with both adults and children. Some of my students have been as young as one year! I've had the privilege of supporting children from various cultural backgrounds, which has given me a huge passion for language and speech development, as well as a strong cultural understanding.
In addition to my role as an English tutor, I took on a position as a toddler teacher at a daycare/preschool in the city of Yamhill. This provided me with invaluable experience and a love for working in this setting. I was able to experience firsthand the importance of creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, learn, and develop their imaginations. I am looking forward to bringing the same loving and warm environment to Good Heritage.
Prior to this experience, I spent more than ten years as a nanny and babysitter. These were the best years spent with some of the most wonderful families and children. During that time, I cared for children as small as newborns and as grown as twelve years old. I had the absolute joy of getting to be there to help them learn and grow and to watch as they turned into the sweetest young people. Some of the experience I will be bringing to Good Heritage has come from homeschooling a few of these children through preschool, as well as teaching them to read.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in empathy, creativity, and a deep belief in every child's potential. I strive to create a supportive, fun, imaginative, play-filled learning environment where each child feels noticed, safe, and loved.
As your child's teacher and childcare provider, I'm dedicated to:
Providing personalized attention and support to meet their unique needs
Fostering a love of learning through engaging, hands-on activities
Building essential academic, fine motor, and speech skills while nurturing their social-emotional growth
Amgad (the owner of Good Heritage) and I are here to answer any questions you may have and discuss if our program can meet your family’s needs. We are available by text, call, or email.
Warm regards,
Katie
