Curriculum & Activities
Children learn best through play, which allows them to use a hands-on approach to practice what they are learning. At Good Heritage, we believe it is important to introduce new concepts at a developmentally appropriate time, and not to expect a child to achieve learning goals that are meant for children of a higher age. Instead, we focus on developing the foundational skills that will help your child to excel in developmentally appropriate stages. This includes providing activities to keep your child active, and to help your child develop their fine motor, speech, and social-emotional skills. But above all, to allow children to be children. Every day we encourage children to play, explore, and use their imaginations.
Babies at Good Heritage are exposed to books, language, and music. We use active engagement through games and songs to help them reach first-year milestones. Every day, our teachers hold, talk to, play with, and engage with your baby. Your babies are shown love and attention, and it is important to us that they are kept clean, fed, and happy.
Toddlers begin to be introduced to more educational activities. They enjoy daily circle time with a focus on using fun stories, books, games, and songs, to help them learn colors, shapes, numbers, and letters. We practice vocabulary-building activities and games to help in language development. Through hands-on child-led play, we introduce our toddlers to problem-solving, social-emotional learning, and critical thinking skills that will help them prepare for preschool, while maintaining a fun atmosphere they can enjoy through play and imagination. Play is fun, but a wonderful way to introduce new concepts for your children.
Preschool classes are divided into learning centers where children explore, learn, and again - play! We continue with play in a theme-based approach to education, our preschool classes focus on time with their teacher to learn new topics, and to do activities that help them practice what they learn. In our preschool classes we begin to practice basic phonics; learning how letters have sounds in order to help develop a strong foundation for future reading. Through games, art, and imaginative play we introduce them to counting, using numbers, and further develop fine motor skills as they learn to write their name, trace, cut, and draw. As teachers at Good Heritage, we have a goal of helping your children grow in knowledge, skill, and ability. We believe in the ability of children to surpass our expectations and thrive when introduced to new concepts and opportunities for learning. Subjects introduced include vocabulary, art, drawing, and fun and age-appropriate science projects. Social skills, critical thinking processes, and manners are developed through active engagement with teachers and friends all while taking part in enjoyable activities.
